Finally coughed the first one up in over a year already. Wanted to make one happen for my good friend Bill's boy, Branden. Bill has gone above and beyond being a friend to me this last year, which has been a seriously crazy year of changes...intentional for the most part though. Bill did the paint job cuz he has skills (and equipment) like that. I have much to pick his brain about. He paints a mean ghost flame. I'm told Branden was pretty stoked. Enjoy the ride!

Still not organized enough to start taking orders and cranking them out. I'm working on it.

Sent a custom GB44 to a client in SoCal. The finish was damaged in delivery, so I get to "fix" things. Yea, good times. I really need to change my paint/finish methods.

Came out sweet otherwise.
Live and learn, but I'll stand by my work.

My friend Jeff had a great idea for a design.
Actor, James Garner was heavily into auto racing back in the day.
Jeff really liked the graphics on the '68 AIR (American International Racing) Corvette.
The shape of the GB44 really lent itself to the design.

Pablo upgrades the wheels on his RastaBomb GB54. He went with the 76mm Gravity Hi-Grades. A very sweet wheel. Pablo noticed a big difference in the ride quality over his prior blank wheel.

5/8" GB44 with extended wheel base. Randal RII 180s with 42 degree base-plates and Randal green bushings. Pink Seven-Os dyed Royal blue to make purple. Logo outline by the amazing Dan Barnett.

Wood check

Laminated up some 5/8" thick GB44s and extended the wheelbase 1.5".

Then I took it out to a local parking garage for some testing.

Not bad. A bit more rigid than I anticipated.
Very solid.
I may recess the trucks a bit, get some RII 180s with 42 degree base plates and go with a 70mm wheel in order to lower the deck height a bit.

I just can't seen to get .5" Baltic birch that is stiff enough anymore.

In Tolleson, Arizona a kool couple now can roll together on their GB44s. He got one for himself a while back and recently ordered one for his wife that is into the roller derby scene.
He had me paint on her team's logo and motto.
Came out pretty good.

Arizona is now a hot-bed of GarageBomb activity.

GarageBomb Longboards was started March 15, 2006...beware the Ides of March!
GarageBombs are large, plank longboards handmade in a garage in San Antonio, Texas. Shaped out of Russian Baltic birch hardwood plywood, then fitted with very good quality parts that are made (as much as possible) in the USA (bearings are tricky). I try to keep them fun and affordable and offer custom artwork.
Originally inspired by the amazing videos of Adam Colton (whoisadamcolton.com), I decided I wanted a massive skateboard for myself, but didn't want to shell out several hundred bucks on what was available commercially...in case I didn't like it. I decided to make my own, so I went down to the Russian Baltic birch hardwood plywood store (not Home Depot) and picked out a sheet of then very affordable 5'x5', .75" material. I made a 54" surfboard shape, then bought some Randal RII-180 trucks and Gravity Fu Manchu wheels and a length of grip tape through my good old friend Toby Johnson who at the time owned SA Skatepark (RIP the skatepark). I stained it "grass green" and brushed on a coat of urethane. Me and my now regular skate crew took it out for some testing at a massive parking garage we call "BIG 5". It did great as we all took turns surfing the garage in the middle of the night until we were asked to leave (politely) by the security guard on duty. As we were leaving, the guard stopped me and was fascinated by my big green machine and said he'd love to have one of them for himself. The thing was a hit and I had enough material to make five or six more decks. I made three more after using some of the material to create a template and GarageBombs were born.
That 54" shape has made several evolutionary changes and spawned a 44" version.
I was numbering them, but lost count. There are around 300 of these things floating around now, all over Texas, the US and as far away as Brasilia, Brazil. The internet has made this possible and I thank all my friends and clients on all the forums and communties that I am involved in. This would not have gotten to be whatever it is without you.
